For Auld Lang Syne

I can't believe I've been a consistent blogger for the past 6 months!  Thank you for following along with me on the "show", the best is yet to come!  Auld Lang Syne is a saying that has always resonated with me because I am such a sentimental and nostalgic person.  It's the reason I started blogging-  I want to never forget these moments!  Cheers to remembering times long past and looking forward to making new moments to remember!  I hope 2014 brings magical moments to everyone!

Merry Everything & Happy Always!

Since Charlie made the Nice list this year Santa won't be delivering coal. And although he would probably enjoy the left over wrapping paper tubes just as much as the gifts, here is what will be under the tree...

I can't even get over this "The Dude" shirt!  I'm contemplating grabbing one in each size so he can wear it FOR- EV- ER.

Since we all know Christmas is less about what's under the tree and more about the people around it, I hope everyone enjoys their time making memories with family and friends. Here's to happiness and good health to all in 2014!  Merry Everything and Happy Always, my friends!!

Month Twelve

Well, all signs are officially pointing to toddler town.  I'm not sure what the magic month is that baby's are considered toddlers but I have a feeling 12 months (or shortly after) is it.  It's all hogwash to me though, Charlie will always be my baby.

  Charlie...
Weighed 24 lbs. and was 31 in. at his 12 mo. wellness visit
Caught his first cold
Gives the best hugs and kisses! Such a lover:)
Can identify a number of different animals, body parts, shapes and colors
Ate his first Thanksgiving meal
Took a road trip to Kraynak's Winterland with cousins
Met Santa

I wanted to start a little survey for him to fill out each year on his birthday.  I'll have to take the liberty of filling the first couple years out until he can do them on his own.  I guess it's just me desperately trying to hold tight of all the little things as time flies by but I have all these ideas of keep sakes that I want to do for him.  I'm going to try and narrow it down to one (maybe two) and share in a later post.  Anyways, here's Charlie's 1st Birthday Interview.
And of coarse our favorites...
ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR here & here | FIVE

Photo Banner's

I've had some inquiries about where my photo banner's from Charlie's party were from, so I thought I'd share the website where I got the tassel idea.  They are super easy to make and you can use any color!  I think it's safe to say there will be tassel garland at all of my party's from here on out!
I totally dropped the ball on taking pictures at the party :( I had to ask my family and friends to send me pictures that they had taken and luckily I did get one of the tassel garland!  As you can see, I added his monthly tie photos to make it a banner.  (sorry for the poor picture quality)

Tassel Garland Tutorial here!

As for the monthly chalkboard photo banner, I didn't get a picture of that. Boo! BUT I did save the pictures on my computer and was able to put together a little collage of them. Boom!  AND since I don't have a tutorial for these I would be happy to make a photo banner for anyone who wants one! Double Boom!  Just shoot me an email shavanas@msn.com. The possibilities are endless with these!  I have a request for one for a graduation party which I think is an awesome idea!  (Again, sorry for the poor photo quality.  They look much nicer printed in their correct format and hung in the ombré sequence!)

Old Saint Nick

We were the first ones in line this morning to see the ol' fat man.  They were still setting up when we arrived so Santa came over to chat us up while we waited.  Charlie was totally feeling it.  He shook his hand, told him he was a good boy this year and let him know a ride on toy and basketball hoop were at the top of his Christmas wish list :)  I thought for sure he was going to have no problems sitting on Santa's lap now that they had been chumming it up.  Not!  We had a minor meltdown right out of the gates, BUT after a couple seconds of frantic yelling and shaking jingle bells in the air Charlie was able to pull himself together for the win!! Ha!

Eleven Month Favorites

We've been so busy lately I almost forgot to post our eleven month favorites.

What a fun month we had!

Charlie...
Started walking
 Celebrated his first Halloween
Spent a week with his grandparents while Ben and I took a cruise
Started really understanding what we are saying i.e. "Take the ball to Daddy." "Point to the piggy." "Go get a book." and he does it!
Visited the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Rolling Stones Exhibit :)

And here are some of our favorites...

1. Snack Happens snack bags-  These bags have water resistant lining to keep snacks cool. They are reusable and great for any snack, wet or dry.

2. Land of Nod Tee pee-  I got him this for his first birthday and he wasn't supposed to have it until then but when it arrived I couldn't resist setting it up.  The thing was so cute we used it in our family pictures.  The dude loves it!

3. Gripped socks-  Little walker's gotta have the gripped socks!!

4.  Baby gate-  For now, instead of baby proofing the kitchen we just keep him out of there all together.  Besides putting plugs in the electrical outlets and getting a new leather coffee table this is really the only other baby proofing we did.  He is a good listener and knows what he is or isn't aloud to get into.

5. Balls-  The kid loves playing with balls.  Throwing, catching, rolling, kicking.  He is always walking around with a ball in his hand and any of his toys that incorporate balls are his favorite!

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and is enjoying this wonderful time of year!

The Dude's Party

Charlie totally surprised us at his birthday party.  I had made a prediction before the guest's arrived that he would keep his poker face on the whole time and not stray too far from Momma. That's just his personality when he is around a lot of people and that's A-OK with us.  He is very pensive and thoughtful and it shows on his face:)  I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard someone ask "I wonder what he is thinking?"  I wonder myself sometimes.  All I know is the wheels are always turning up there because the kid is smart as a whip:)  Anyways, much to my surprise, Charlie was a little social butterfly at his party.  He walked around and mingled with his family and friends, sat in his chair and opened his gifts, and enjoyed eating his smash cake (something else I wasn't sure how he'd react to).  You could tell he wasn't to sure about all eyes on him while singing happy birthday but he didn't let that stop him from digging in and having fun!  He had a great time and I, as usual, was very pleased with our little one year old sweet baby boy.

Dear Charlie

Dear Charlie,

On your first birthday I want to try and put into words this wonderfully overwhelming feeling I have for you.  Before I ever met your dad, when you were just a twinkle in my eye, I wanted you.  When I was pregnant, before I knew if you were a boy or a girl, before you took your first breath, I loved you. I love you for just being.  One day when you read this I hope you know that my love is ever growing.  The things you do in life like getting good grades, achieving goals, making good or bad decisions or excelling in sports will not make me love you more or less.  Those things will simply make me happy and proud but my love for you is constant and will not fluctuate, it just is.  You are my son and for that reason alone, I will always love you.  You have not stolen my heart-  you are my heart.  Thank you for being you and making my world happy.

Happy 1st Birthday, my little dude.

Love,
Momma

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween from our little gobbler!

I've had my eye on this costume ever since he was born! How fitting for him to be a turkey!?!  He's so cute I could bake him up and eat him!
Since it was cold and rainy we didn't go out Trick-Or-Treating but we had fun passing out candy!

Happy Halloween!

Month Ten

10 months have flown by! The dude just turned eleven months a few days ago but here is a recap of month 10!
I am amazed at how he seems to learn and do something new everyday. He is very inquisitive and challenges us to stimulate him in so many ways. The other day while I was brushing my teeth he sat at my feet and watched me brush. He then started moving his mouth to make the "AH" and "OH" shapes that I was making. I stuck my tongue out to brush it and he stuck his out. It was cute and it prompted me to get his toothbrush out to brush his two little teeth. We then sat on the bathroom floor and I showed him how to brush his hair with his little baby brush. He was very serious about it.  He touched his head with the brush and then touched my hair with the brush back and fourth as I repeated "Brush Charlie's hair, now brush mamma's hair.".  He is a wise one.

Charlie...
Took his first steps
Try's to say Dog "og", Book "ook", Ball "Ba" and All Gone "Ah Gon"
Is acquiring two more teeth on the top
Loves to mimic us.
Loves to play interactive games like Peek- A- Boo, "I'm gonna get you!"- Where we chase him and then he turns and chases us, all the while laughing hysterically!  If you follow me on instagram you've seen his latest Scaring mamma game. lol

1. Bananas-  Every morning Charlie snuggles up on the couch with Ben or I and eats a banana like a big boy.  It is the cutest thing!  He knows right where we keep them and if we don't get the banana in a timely fashion he stands next to the counter where they are and makes a fuss about it!

2.Stride Rite shoes-  Like I mentioned before these were a great option for Charlie's extra wide feet.  He is really getting the hang of walking in them.
3. Halloween Jammies-  These Frankenstein jams from Gymboree are so cute!  I said it once and I'll say it again I LOVE STRIPES. Haha!  I am really loving pajama separates right now but we will soon be switching to our snugly one piece zip ups.
4. Stones Swag-  Shout out to H&M for showing our young Rolling Stones fans some love!!  We like to do "Mamma and Mini" days in our matching Stones gear.
5. Little Tikes Wagon-  Charlie loves wagon rides!  We pull him around at Ben's parents house and collect leafs and flowers, he really enjoys being outside and all things nature just like Ben.  I also can't wait to pull him around in it while Trick-or -Treating at my moms house next week!!

I can't believe he is almost a year old!!  It's so weird to think that last year around this time I was celebrating my baby shower.  We were decked out in pink and blue and so excited for our precious baby boy or girl to arrive!  I remember when I was pregnant I would always sing a song that my mom and grandma used to sing to me when I was a baby and in the song you would say your baby's name.  I would always sing it twice once with our baby girl name and once with our baby boy name:)

This year to celebrate our little boy we'll decorate in blue ombre' galore!  Almost party time!
