Our Christmas 2014

Charlie had so much fun this Christmas season despite my half ass'd Christmas spirit.   I had all this fun stuff planned for us to do.  We were going to head downtown and see the lights, make a gingerbread house and salt-dough Christmas ornaments.  We were going to get our picture taken with Santa, make our own advent calendar and hang our stockings.  It was going to be the most wonderful time of the year!  Unfortunately, pregnancy number two was kicking my butt and I just couldn't shake my nausea to get anything done.  We never even decorated our Christmas tree, honestly I was just happy the damn thing got put up and the lights worked.  A couple days before Christmas, Charlie started telling everyone "Santa Claus is coming and he's bringing preseeeeents!"  I looked at my mom and was like oh shit, I should probably go shopping.  Which we did just in the nick of time the day before Christmas eve and we even made some festive cookies that day too!  My slacking didn't phase Charlie one bit, he still had so much fun!  What a magical time of year especially when you get to experience it through toddlers eyes!

Hope everyone enjoyed spending time off with family and friends!  Happy New Years Eve week!

What a Merry Christmas it is!

So happy to say another baby Reeder is on the way!

Along with my excitement is an overwhelming amount of nausea, drowsiness and just plain feeling shitty 24/7 for the past 3 weeks.  Which is my excuse for my quietness on social media.  I can barely pull myself together to make it to work at a decent hour let alone update my blog and Instagram :(
I know they say no two pregnancies are alike but since this pregnancy is completely different than my last I feel like it might me a girl this time.  Both Ben and I really don't care either way as long as they are healthy but  I think our ideal family would be another boy and then our next one (and last) would be a girl.  I really like the idea of 2 boys and a little girl and I think it would be nice for Charlie to have a little buddy :)  The fun part is we don't get to choose and we aren't finding out the sex because we really don't care so until then we will just enjoy these next 7 months and keep hoping for a happy healthy little baby!  So excited!!

We also have more exciting news coming in the next few weeks so stay tuned!

xoxo

Thanksgiving 2014

Hope everyone had a happy long Thanksgiving weekend!  Ours started off with bad news that my grandma had to go to the hospital and so Thanksgiving with my side of the family was cancelled.  Since we always celebrate with Ben's family the day after we spent our Thanksgiving taking turns going to the gym,  watching movies and vegging out all day with the dude.  By the end of the day we were pretty stir crazy so we decided to head out to Target to grab a few things, only to find a line out the door a mile long with crazy Black Friday campers.  The whole day was a bust!
Friday with Ben's family did not disappoint!  We deep fried our turkey like we do every year but since we don't want all that hot oil to go to waste we really go all out!  Two turkeys, two chickens, and tons of potato and sweet potato fries were fried up!  I totally dropped the ball as far as pictures go, I didn't take one. Boo
The rest of our holiday weekend was pretty low key.  I got to spend some time with my BFF who came in from Nashville with her husband and visited my grandma in the hospital. In between the crummy weather we also got to take a couple snapshots for our Christmas cards! sneak peak...
I am so thankful for my friends and family especially my gram, the backbone of our family and my mom for taking such good care of her.  I definitely counted my blessing this year, we sure do have a lot to be thankful for.
XOXO

Happy Birthday Charles Beau

Happy Thanksgiving!
We kept Charlie's 2nd Birthday on the down low last week, no big party or celebration, just a fun early morning mini donut cake and presents with mom and dad and then off to grandma's house he went to collect more birthday loot on his big day:)

He was a pro at blowing out his candle and wanted to do over and over again so we re-lite it four or five times. Ha
And while he got a kick out of dunkin his donuts in the milk he was not a fan of the taste.  He took one bite and quickly spit it out yelling "Yuck!"

Here is Charlie's two year interview:)

There are no words to describe how much we love you, Charlie. Happy 2nd Birthday my little Dude!

23 Months

Charlie turns the big 2 tomorrow!  For now lets recap this last month!

Charlie...
Is really getting in to singing AND dancing
Doesn't refer to himself in the third person anymore:)
Still loves to be outside
Has found a new love for the slide at the playground. It's definitely his favorite and he doesn't need Mom's help anymore *tear
(this one is my favorite) Takes his jacket off all by himself.  It is the cutest thing watching him unzip and then wiggle his little arms out.  Then he hands it to me and says "Here Mom!"

In the past months if I were to show Charlie a picture of he and I and asked "Who's that?"  He would have said "That's Charlie!" "That's Mom!"  Now if you ask him he'll say "That's Me!"  "That's you!"  Most of mine and Ben's conversations start with "Did you hear him say that?..." or "I can't believe he already knows how to say this!..."  It really is crazy how fast he is picking things up and in the past he has always been smarter than I give him credit for but not anymore:)  I really do think he's a genius! lol

We are still having trouble getting him to sleep past 4am. Boo  We are the type of parents that never ask for help or suggestions when it comes to child rearing.  We just push through or in regards to sleeping we just wait it out and in time the situation naturally changes.  Buuuut we have been waiting this one out for months now and nothing is changing.  I'm going to ask our pediatrician for some advice at his 2 year well visit on Monday and hopefully we'll have a break through!  Stay tuned!

Also, this picture was taken literally 2 days after the above pictures.  Only in Ohio...Wha Wha

Hope everyone is having fun with your kids out in the snow!
T-10 days to Thanksgiving!

Toddler gifts

Yesterday I got to stay home and enjoy the day with my little dude!  I love unexpected days off where it's just he and I!  Our first order of business was a banana pineapple smoothie for breakfast.  Then we played the day away, we even made it out to the play ground to enjoy one of our last semi-warm days of fall!
How cute is his "2" mason cup!? So fitting for my soon to be 2 year old!

Since his birthday and Christmas are right around the corner I thought I'd round up some gift idea inspiration!  If those red house socks aren't the cutest things ever then I don't know what is.  I will definitely be trying to find a matching adult pair!

The Gus & Me book may be more for me than Charlie.  It is a kids book but it was written by Keith Richards and illustrated by his daughter Theodora Richards.  I seriously can't wait to get my hands on it!  PLUS there is an audio download available of the man himself reading it! Double score!!
I'm also really feeling the Kate Spade & Jack Spade for Gap Kids Collection.  They have such cute stuff for the holidays!!

Hope everyone is enjoying November!  T-15 days until Thanksgiving!

Halloween

For weeks leading up to Halloween Charlie loved playing in his costume, he would literally cry when I tried taking it off.  As luck would have it, he wanted no part of it come game day.  When we first put it on at Ben's parents house he threw a fit, wouldn't leave it on and I didn't get any pictures:(  Our second try at my moms house went a little better.  He wore it just long enough for me to snap a couple pictures but no way was he going to let me draw whiskers on his face (even after I drew some on mine to show how much fun it was) and double no way was he going to smile for the camera. Even still, he made the cutest little lion and even managed to muster up a couple roars for us!

The tail totally made the costume for me! So freaking cute!!

Even though we didn't go out Trick or Treating we had just as much fun passing out candy.  Charlie especially had fun transporting candy back and forth from the candy bowl to his Trick or Treat bucket over and over again.  Speaking of  Trick or Treat buckets I wanted to share a fun idea I thought of last year.  Every year I will document what Charlie was for Halloween that year on his bucket.  It will make a great keepsake for him to be able to remember what costumes he wore for Halloween growing up!!

I was also able to wear my whiskers out on Saturday night to a fun Halloween party at my friends house.  Halloween is my most favorite holiday and October in general really is the best time of year for me.  I'm sad to see it go but really looking forward to the holidays!

Happy November, Friends! XO

Fall fun

We are having so much fun this fall!  Charlie just loves being outside in this brisk weather playing in the leaves and mud!  We took him to a pumpkin patch in Hartville, OH this past weekend which was a total hit!  Hayrides, petting zoo, pumpkin picking, face painting, kiddie train rides, carnival food!, corn mazes, playground you name it they had it!  I'm already looking forward to going back next year!

This picture below cracks me up.  He had his finger up saying "Shhhhhhh, he's seeping."

You may have already seen on Instagram our balloon jack-o-lanterns!  If you want to keep a toddler entertained for more than 5 minutes at a time give them a couple helium filled balloons! It's high anxiety for mom but boat loads of fun for little dudes/dudettes.

Also, if you've been on the hunt for a good pumpkin pie smoothie look no further...
Check out the recipe instructions here and while you're there browse through all the other great meal ideas she posts!

Lastly, this was our first year we didn't carve pumpkins.  I opted to paint and glitter them up and I love how they turned out!!

Hope everyone has the happiest Halloween tomorrow!  I can't wait to share pictures of Charlie in his costume next week!!

22 Months

Month 22 was a fun month indeed!  Charlie is a little ball of energy who loves to run and play ALL day!  It's getting hard for his grandparents to get him to take naps during the day.  He just wants to go, go, go!

Charlie...
Loves to sing!  His favorite is the Itsy Bitsy Spider, hand motions and all!
Got his first hair cut
Wants to be outside all day
Counts in to the teens now!  He gets to 13 and then needs help sorting out the rest:)
Is obsessed with hide and seek.  I'll randomly hear "CAN'T FIND MEEEEE!" coming from another room.  That's my cue..." Charlieee, where are youuuuu?"  He is such a good hider, so still and quiet.
Knows all his colors, shapes and a lot of letters.  He is even good at drawing circles.

Here are some 21 and 22 month favorites...
1. Two Piece PJ's-  Now that the weather is getting cold we are back to the long two piece pj's.  These Gap lion striped ones are my favorite.

2.  Rain Boots-  The Dude is a mud puddle magnet so these are perfect for out door fun!

3.  Brown Bear Book-  We still read every day, I try to rotate all our books to keep him engaged.  He's in to Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see right now.  Sometimes with this book he'll shush me then proceed to tell me his own version of the book. " Aww kitty!" or "Shew shew why dog!" {translation: Get away, white dog.} or "Mom! Look! Sheepie!!" when he comes to the black sheep:)

4.  Hard hat and gear-  Charlie's into hats, has been for awhile, but we recently pulled a hard hat out that he got last year at a birthday party and he loves it.  For awhile he wanted to wear it everywhere we went!  He likes dressing up with his hard hat, tool belt and tools.  He loves putting his Halloween costume on too!  The day we tried it on I couldn't get him to take it off, he stood in front of the mirror forever closely looking over every detail of the costume.  He couldn't believe he was looking at himself, it was so funny!  He even got a kick out of putting his costume from last year on and clucking around the house! Ha Ha

5. Lion figurines-  At this stage he is less into toys and more into using his imagination.  That's why I think he likes to dress up so much and why these little lions keep him occupied for long periods time.  He loves walking them around and making them roar at each other.

Month 22 has been a fun stage!  We love watching him grow, learn and play.  He truely is the highlight of our life!
