Month Fourteen

Might as well say the kid's fourteen years old at the rate he's growing up!!  I've never met a sweater child than this child of mine.  He is such a lover and I can't even take it, I just can't.

Charlie...
Runs now, and fast too! He's getting harder and harder to catch.
Is Mommy and Daddy's little helper around the house and also learning to pick up after himself.
Loves shootin' hoops.
Loves bath time.  He would stay in the tub for an hour if we'd let him.
Knows all body parts from head to toe except knees, elbows and ankles.  Still working on those ones.
Makes the silliest faces!

Here is our thirteen and fourteen month favorites.
1.  Utensil's-  He is really good with his utensils.  Has been using them for awhile and doesn't need our help.  It's funny, he actually wont eat his food unless he has a fork or spoon.
2. Toothbrush-  He loves brushing his teeth BUT he's the only one that's aloud to do it and unfortunately his idea of brushing his teeth is biting and sucking on the brush then running around and banging it on the walls.
3.  H&M matching hat and scarf- So cute when he wears them together!
4.  "A Little Old Man" Book-  I know I talk about this book a lot but it really is his favorite (and mine too!).  A friend of mine got it for him at our shower.  Her son loved it when he was little but it's an old book and hard to find- it was used when we got it so I'm trying to keep it in good condition so we can enjoy for many more years.  It's really a great story.
5.  Little Tike's Bath time Turtle Drum Set-  So cute!  FYI new mom's:  No one ever told me not to waste my money on squirt toys for the tub!  No matter how well you think you got the water out within a few weeks they get moldy!  I know some people clean them out with bleach water and reuse them but I just don't have the time!  I digress, the turtle drums are fun!  Charlie is obsessed with baths right now.  He'll just walk into the bathroom and try to climb into the tub whining and pointing at his turtles!

Happy Valentine's Day!

How fitting that right around Valentines Day Charlie turns into a little love bug!?!  Just when I thought I couldn't love him anymore the kid turns into a kissing, hugging, and cuddling machine! Ah, heart = melted.

Hope everyone had a LOVE-ly Valentine's Day!  Earlier this week we took some Valentines pictures and baked some cupcakes to give to grandmas, great grandmas and Aunt Meg.

I also wanted to share this ombrĂ© heart print I made.  It would look great framed on a mantle or you could use it as your phone wallpaper as I have:)

Smoothie Monsterrrrr

It used to be I had the hardest time getting the dude to eat meat.  I don't know if it was because he doesn't have a full set of chompers yet or he just didn't like the taste/texture.  Fast forward to this week and he devours the meat and wont touch his veggies. Bla.  I am definitely one of those moms who isn't going to force my kid to eat when he doesn't want to and I am also one of those moms who if you don't eat your dinner then I guess you go to bed hungry.  Only problem- I can't put my one year old to bed hungry!  What's a poor momma to do?!  For now it's a fruit smoothie with veggies for lunch or a snack (which he LOVES)and a big pile meat with some pushed around and played with veggies for dinner. Ha!  Hope this phase (and his attachment to Ben phase)will pass soon!

I know that there are a bazillion + 1 smoothie recipes out there and I don't want to bore you with all our favs but there is one I thought I'd share.  It's my own recipe I call the Smoothie Monster:)

I'm bad at measuring- I just throw hand fulls of shit in it until it looks or tastes the way I want.  I also make it in different variations but here is my best guess at measurements that make about 2 servings (one for baby, one for momma!)

1 1/4 cups organic orange juice (or organic no sugar added cranberry juice)
1/2 avocado
3/4 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries (or strawberries)
1 banana
1/2 cup of spinach (or broccoli, carrots, brussel sprouts...whatever really)
1/2 cup ice

Blend. Suck it down.

I have also been trying to get creative and festive with my presentation.  Like his bear toast that obviously tastes better than regular toast.  Anything to put a smile on his face:)
