Brad's12 Month Update

I can't believe this is our last monthly update.   I remember being in the hospital after Brad was born, he was a blondie but his hair looked red in certain lighting and I thought he resembled Junior from one of my favorite movies when I was younger, Problem Child.  Do you guys remember that movie from the 90's with John Ritter and Gilbert Gottfried?  The kid was a monster!  I thought this is it.  There's no way I could be lucky enough to have two sweet boys.  This one was going to be like Junior, rotten and give me a run for my money.  All though he still has that ornery look about him, I couldn't have been more wrong.
It's been the fastest year of my life and little Brad has brought so much happiness, excitement and love.  More than I ever could have imagined.
First things first, this boy can eat.  There are very few foods that he doesn't like.  At meal time he finishes everything on his plate and then (since Charlie eats like a bird) he finishes up all Charlie's scraps.
He is obsessed with climbing up on the couch and bouncing around. I tried to keep him off at first but he would get violent about it so I buckled and gave him free reign.  He loves it and I endure 1000 mini heart attacks every 2 seconds.  No big deal.
He also loves being chased.  Now that he's a walker and a fast walker at that, he thinks it's hilarious when we are all running around after him.  We go in circles around the couch a hundred times a day.
He is also really into cars.  He got a whole bunch of new cars and trucks for his birthday and loves pushing them all around.
He is a little lover.  My favorite is in the morning when he wakes up he needs a good 10-15 minute snuggle session on the couch before he is ready to start his day.
His love for smoothies and the dogs water bowls run deep but our love for him runs deeper.
You are an absolute doll, Mr. Bradford Coen Reeder.  We love you so much and can't wait to see what the future holds for you! XOXO

Friday Favorites

TGIF! Ben and I are headed to Milwaukee this weekend for our annual Northwestern Mutual business trip sans the boys but before we go I wanted to round up some goodies for a Friday Favorites post. Just some things that I have been loving recently and wanted to share!

I'm so obsessed with neon colors for the boys right now, specifically bright shorts because they pair well with everything!  Brad got these neon orange pull-on shorts for his birthday and I just picked up these cute bright neon yellow poplin shorts on sale!  We had our family pictures done a few weeks ago and I'm kicking myself because I opted to go with safe whites and blues at the last minute instead of the bright colors I originally planned.  I love how they turned out but I think the bright colors would have been a better representation of their personalities.

I love Land of Nod's play tents so much that as soon as I saw the Freezy Dream Ice Cream Truck I knew Brad would love it and it totally inspired his birthday theme.  We got Charlie the tee pee for his 1st birthday so I really wanted to get Brad something similar for his.  The ice cream truck tent was a hit and look how cute these little felt freezy dream treats are too!

Two things I'm really loving to wear right now are my Shoreline Chuck Taylor's, they go well with literally any outfit and they fit better and more true to size than the original Chuck Taylor's.  Also, these Stylus tee's.  They're polyester which makes them feel more like a structured tee, they look great with a chunky necklace, are high low and look and feel more expensive than they really are.  I loved them so much I bought two, one in the ivory and one in american navy.  There's also beautiful detailing on the back with a gold button that I'm surprised they didn't show on the website.

Last but certainly not least, I am excited share my Sticky Quotes post it notes!  These stickies are so much fun.  A great way to leave a little inspiration or love note for your family, friends or well anyone really!  My favorite are the lunch box sticky quotes to leave a little surprise for your kids to see when they open their lunch at school.  Since Charlie isn't in school yet I stick one to his breakfast in the morning and he loves it!  The original inspiration stickies are fun too!  I love throwing one on the coffee machine for Ben to see in the morning or on his to go coffee mug.  So fun!

Brad's 1st Birthday Party

After my sister's graduation party last summer my mom proclaimed that that was the last party she was hosting at her house, so I was a little nervous to ask if we could have Brad's first birthday party there.  I promised to cut the guest list in half and do all the set up and clean up to get her to agree.  The only thing we didn't skimp on was the fun!  A face painter and the ice cream truck came, the weather was great and Brad was loving every second of it!  The perfect party to be held on national ice cream day!

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate our littlest Reeder's first birthday.  It's been one whole year of awesome! XO

Essential Oils

I'm so excited to talk a little bit about essential oils and the amazing resource I've found in Sarah from The Essential Oils Hut.  Last year when I found out I was pregnant with Brad I knew I wanted to start using essential oils during my pregnancy, through nursing and newborn stages and beyond but I was nervous because getting started seemed so overwhelming.  I decided to dive right in and start with the most common uses that I had heard of like lavender for calming and sleeping, peppermint for my nausea and lemon for detoxing.
Moving beyond the basics was so intimidating that I didn't use them for much else.  With a new baby and a toddler I couldn't find the time to research and I had no idea how much I was actually missing out on.  Until I met Sarah!  She has helped me navigate through so much more than just the basics!  From allergies, fever reducers and sore throats to bug bites, skin care and teeth whitening.
My allergies have been off the hook this season and I had no idea how much the peppermint, lavender and lemon oils could help with it.  She even sent empty capsules with directions for a natural allergy pill.  When Brad started teething his temperature would spike.  His high fevers would last for days.  When I used peppermint down his neck and spine after a cool bath his fever would immediately go down and STAY down.  Don't get me wrong, I still turn to modern medicine but using essentials oils feels like the right step towards a healthy lifestyle for both me and my children.
If you are thinking about starting to use essential oils or need to revamp what you're already doing reach out to Sarah.  She is a wealth of knowledge and would love to help!  I'm thankful to have her to as my go to for all my oily needs:)

Our 4th of July

Hope everyone had a great fourth.  We took a ride up to my parents boat like we do every year.  It's funny how I used to go up to the lake to relax but now with the boys it seems a bit more stressful than relaxing.  I feel like I'm in a constant state of high alert since it's right on the water.  We always have a fun time though and this year was no different.  I took very little pictures but did manage to scrounge up a couple scenes from the weekend.

If you haven't noticed, I lost all my blog comments and comment section below each post.  I have no clue what happened but I am working to fix it.  Off to do some first birthday party planning! XO
